Founded on the belief that good design should feel effortless, even when the process behind it is anything but.
Michael Wada Studio is a multidisciplinary creative practice based in Los Angeles, California. We opened our doors in 2016 with a single desk and an unreasonable amount of ambition. Today, we're a team of five working across brand identity, fine art, illustration, and environmental design.
Our clients include independent publishers, hospitality brands, tech startups, and cultural institutions. What connects them is a shared appetite for work that actually means something.
We don't subscribe to a single aesthetic. The work should serve the idea, not the other way around. Sometimes that means restraint: a two-color palette and careful typography. Other times it means an explosion of texture and pattern that stops people in their tracks.
What stays consistent is our commitment to craft. Every curve, every color choice, every whitespace decision is intentional. We obsess over details because details are what separate forgettable work from work that lasts.
Michael Wada studied fine art at ArtCenter College of Design before spending four years at a branding agency in New York. The studio was born out of a need to reunite commercial rigor with artistic expression — to build a practice where a corporate identity and a canvas painting could coexist under the same roof.
Since launching, the studio has been featured in Communication Arts, It's Nice That, and AIGA Eye on Design.
